Important! Temporary seminar timetable changes!
We will host a knife defences seminar with a black belt Krav Maga instructor Gerwin Kranenburg on Saturday, 17th of November. Gerwin will also do a brown belt test for some of our students on Friday, the 16th. Due to that we need to cancel the level 2/3 and level 4/5 class on Friday, the 16th of November. We are also cancelling the Saturday 11am level 1 class. All the other classes will run as normal. We apologize for any inconvenience caused!
So, what exactly is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is a self defence system that is easy to learn, effective and suitable for most regular people. The techniques that we teach are based on instinctive reactions that our bodies already have. This significantly shortens the amount of time required to learn techniques. It also makes them much easier to use in a stressful situation. For example, if someone tries to choke you, your hands will automatically come up and you will try to break the attacker's grip. Unfortunately relying solely on your body's instinctive response may not be enough, especially against a bigger and stronger opponent. If this wasn't the case, we'd all be great fighters! This is where Krav Maga comes in. Through good quality training you can teach your body to slightly modify the natural response and turn it into a reliable defence. No previous martial arts experience nor a high level of fitness is required to start! In fact, attending classes regularly will not only let you learn how to protect yourself but also help you improve your fitness level!
Ok and what about the instructors? Who teaches the classes?
These days there are quite a few Krav Maga federations out there. Our school is a licensee of the Krav Maga Worldwide organization. In fact, we are the only licensee of KMW in Dublin and Ireland. Check it out, we are listed on their website (you may need to scroll down a bit to get to the international licensees). All of our instructors have passed KMW's rigorous exams to get certified as coaches. Just the first test, which allows you to teach level 1 classes only, is a 7 day long course of 8 hours training/teaching per day, that ends with a full day test. We currently have 4 active instructors, left to right: Pablo (Level I), Artur (Level II), Michal (Expert II) and Nicolas (Level I).

Ok. What is your class schedule?
Our classes are divided into levels. New students are welcome to attend any of the level 1 classes. We have six of them each week, Monday to Saturday. Once you've done a few months of training you will be able to take a level 1 test and start attending the intermediate level 2/3 classes. Finally, we also have level 4/5 advanced classes that are open to all students who have passed their level 3 test. Our current timetable is below.
Wow, that's a lot of classes to choose from! Where are you guys based?
We're very close to Dublin's city center. The exact address is Bond House, 12 Bridge Street Lower, Dublin 8. We're inside Christchurch Fitness Centre on the ground floor of an office building, directly opposite the Brazen Head pub. There's a big Krav Maga poster in one of the windows. You will have no problems noticing it. Our location is also marked on the map below.
What do I need to bring for my first class?
All you need for your first class is a set of comfortable gym clothes and a bottle of water. Each new student is also required to fill out a joining form when they first show up at the gym. That form consists of some basic contact details and a health questionnaire. Even though it's not a lot of work to fill it out, please be at the gym at least 5-10 minutes early, so that you can complete it before the start of the class.
