At Krav Maga Extreme Defence we teach regular people how to protect themselves against physical aggression. We are also very serious about protecting the privacy of our students and staff. We are committed to providing you highest quality service and to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and process your personal data.

What data do we collect and from where?

We collect information from joining forms that need to be filled out by every club member. This information includes the member’s name, date of birth, address, phone number, email, line of work, previous injuries and medical conditions that may impact your ability to train safely. We also require members to provide us with an emergency contact (EC) details – name, relation, phone number and email. We would like to ask you to please let your EC know that you’ve shared their details with us, in case we ever need to get in touch with them.

When you visit our website, a record of your visit is made. That data is used completely anonymously, to determine the number of people who visit our website and the most frequently used sections of the site. This enables us to continually update and refine the site. If you use any forms on the website to send an email to us, a record will also be made of your name and email address.

How do we use your personal data?

The health related information is used to determine whether you can train with us safely. Your contact info allows us to contact you via email to let you know about upcoming events, such as exams or workshops etc. We may also contact you by phone in case of a last minute class cancelation or other time-critical emergencies. Your date of birth allows us to check whether you are over 18 years old, which is a requirement to train with us (and we may wish you happy birthday on that special day of the year). In case you can’t pick your diploma up from the gym we may mail it to your address.

Who do we share your personal data with?

We share your name with our federation’s HQ when we order diplomas after belt exams. We also use various third-party IT suppliers which store and process data on our behalf (including, but not limited to, MailChimp and Facebook). We are committed to keeping your personal data safe.

Your Rights

We hope that you find training with us enjoyable and are happy for us to keep your personal data to maintain a good level of communication. If you have any concerns, which you think we haven’t addressed after contacting us about them, then you can raise these with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Ireland. Please do get in touch with us if you have any questions or would like anything changed in the records that we hold about you such as:

Where is the data stored?

We store information in different ways, both physical (joining forms) and electronical. Access to this data is limited to Krav Maga Extreme Defence instructors only.

Updates to our Privacy Policy

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time, including as part of the European data protection legislation which will start to apply on 25 May 2018 (the “General Data Protection Regulation”). Any updates to our Privacy Policy will be published on our website. Please check back occasionally to keep yourself up to date.
